SPRING IN A DRESS is what this beauty personifies. A stunning light cream coloured pure silk party dress by Helena Barbieri. Known for her stunning evening and party wear, that was often decorated with beading or sequins Helena Barbieri was a prominent designer from New York during the 1940s and 1950s. 

This dress is a stunning and unique example from this designer who produced garments that were not only beautiful but incredibly made. This beauty is made from a very light weight silk, like it floats and it falls so beautifully.

This beautiful piece has a ruched style neckline and sleeve which has almost a peasant style to it, and is exquisitely feminine. The front has a slightly lowered v and she has ties which can be tied for modesty or left loose. The shoulders are gathered and feature a matching tie on each side which as seen in these images can be tied into a bow. Her bodice is lined in a matching acetate lining and her skirt is lined with a very fine, soft mesh that creates some structure and weight to the silk as it is so fine. 

The print itself appears almost to be hand painted but it is the print itself that is so well done that it gives this illusion. In some areas of the dress she has matching sequins on the blossoms, stems and leaves which gives a slight sparkle in the light. Her sequins appear in tact and in very beautiful condition.

She has a very minor alteration near the right bust-underarm area, the dress was previously torn and this has been gently and carefully repaired. This is barely noticeable and likely would not be seen when worn. She has some very light coloured marks near her waist line (less than 1/8 inch each) that are not obvious and she has some areas of her skirt where she has some greenish "smudges" however this blends into the print and is also not obvious. She also has some very small less than 1/8 inch diameter small light brown spots near her hem area, which are not apparent unless examining closely.

She has been priced gently to account for her minor issues, which do not detract at all from her undeniable beauty.
